Georgia Hi-Lo Trail Plan
Georgia
The Georgia Hi-Lo Trail Master Plan is a vision to connect Athens to Tybee Island via a paved multi-use trail that, when complete, will be the longest paved trail in America. The Hi-Lo Trail will cross eight counties in east-central Georgia and empower small town economies by supporting local businesses through tourism and attracting new residents. It will improve community health by providing opportunities to safely walk and bike on inviting trails. As a facility open for all, the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail will enable people with disabilities, senior citizens, and families with children to enjoy Georgia’s great outdoors.
Working groups in each of the Hi-Lo counties were organized to guide planning and public outreach efforts. They provided solicit input and feedback on the trail alignment, public engagement advice, and proposals for “model projects” in each county. And public meetings were also conducted in central locations in each of the counties.
